From Day Job to Livin' Your Musical Dreams with Anne Buckle
Anne Buckle: I mean, if that isn't a singer songwriter name, I'm not sure what is.
Here's the condensed version of her official bio; she has a whole page of amazing accomplishments.
“Anne Buckle known as WILDWOOD - is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist with songs streamed millions of times. A descendent of the Carter family and a cousin of June Carter Cash, Anne has been called “a refreshing take on a legendary family” by the Nashville Music Guide. She has written hundreds of songs with dozens of artists in her 9-year career in Nashville so far.
As a songwriting instructor, Anne works with businesses, museums, schools, and organizations all over the world to lead and facilitate interactive group songwriting sessions both online and in-person.”
Anne is a multi-passionate singer/song writer, multi-instrumentalist.
In this conversation, Anne and I chat about:
Her journey from desk job to self-employed creative doing what she loves – and how even though it was a great job, it wasn't what she wanted to do
Her year of "very low income," after she got back from tour opening for the Dixie Chicks and how she made it work
Making less money but being more in line with her creative goals
The amazing feeling of making as much doing your own thing as you did in your desk job
The huge amount of faith & trust it takes to be a creative entrepreneur with no guarantees
The discomfort of quitting that day job and taking the leap
How there might be people in your circle that don't get it and that's normal
The value of a good mentor, finding like-minded supportive people so you don't have to do it alone
How her creative business came to a screeching halt due to COVID and how she adapted
And finally we chat about:
Valuing yourself as an entrepreneur
The tendency to undercharge that we all creative women have
How people will pay for quality and there are people out there with every budget
How to know when to charge more and how to work smarter not harder
How some creative goals feed your soul, while others feed your bank account. And why that's just as important!
How goal setting and building a business for creatives is a bit different
How to you give your ALL doing your own thing and wouldn't change it at all
